John H. Leech, Jr.

John H. Leech, Jr. is a native of Mobile and graduated from Davidson High School. He attended Rhodes College where he studied political science and played fullback and long snapper on the football team. He then transferred to the University of South Alabama where he continued his football career. During his time at USA, John was president of his fraternity, Greek Man of the Year, Secretary/Treasurer of the Order of Omega, a recipient of the Excellence in Political Science Award, named to multiple Dean’s Lists, a member of numerous honor societies, and was named to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List. He graduated in 2011 from the University of South Alabama with a B.A. in political science, cum laude.

John then attended Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center on a Chancellor Scholar Scholarship. During his time at LSU Law Center, John was a member of the Public Interest Law Society (PILS), and dedicated much of his time to an organization called StreetLaw that spent time at local schools discussing and educating students about the law. John competed in the Ira S. Flory Trial Competition, the Tullis Moot Court Competition, and an Opening Statement Competition. He worked in the Family Law Clinic during his third year in which he advocated for victims of domestic violence, and was a Junior Editor for the Journal of Civil Law Studies, in which he published an article. John interned and externed for various organizations throughout law school, including the United States District Court, Southern District of Alabama, Mobile County District Attorney’s Office, and 19th JDC Public Defender’s Office. In May of 2014 John graduated LSU Law Center with a Juris Doctorate and Graduate Degree in Comparative Law.

After graduating law school from LSU in 2014, John was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in September of 2014. He has since been admitted to practice in Louisiana (2018) and Florida (2019). He is also a member of the Mobile Bar Association, the Baldwin County Bar Association, the Mobile Young Lawyers, and the Alabama Association for Justice. John volunteers his time with the Mobile Young Lawyers in planning various fundraisers and also with the South Alabama Volunteer Lawyers Program. John has been recognized by The National Trial Lawyers and the American Institute of Trial Lawyers as a Top 40 Under 40 lawyer, and was a finalist for a Nappie Award as one of the best plaintiff lawyers in Mobile, Alabama in 2017.

John currently resides in Mobile with his wife, Arika, and their children where they are members of Christ United Methodist Church.
